Child, Hip Surgery Done To Clear Infection, Barely Walks, Pain. Chances Of Loss Of Walking Ability?
Can a toddler lose ability to walk from a stagh infection in blood? 2 year old had surgery on R hip to clear infec. but still can barely walk and only with pain. arches back and leans to one side. Has been in hosp.for week. I am just concerened with the possibilty he could lose abiltiy to walk. (this may be wrong place to ask this. I am looking online for some info)
Generally children have an excellent healing ability and chances from loosing walking ability is markedly reduced. If after infection, your child is provided with appropriate antibiotics, recovery till working chances are highly elevated (hoping that no complications arise in due time). Also if surgery was properly conducted with no surgical complications, I believe you have nothing to worry about. If you are worried, just please talk with the operating surgeon and get his/her point of view. Physiotherapy will also help improve walking faster.
