Child Is Sick Frequently. Takes Multivitamins. Reason?
Hi doctor, My LO who is 3.5 yrs old has been really getting sick a lot! Ever since he turned 3yrs old, I notice it none stop. He is sick then better a few wks or a wks sometimes and sick again. He is at home and at preschool only once a wk for 2hrs. He eats mainly home made dinners and he takes a multivitamin and vitamin D chewables daily. Is this normal or should I consider doing something else? I feel terrible and tired of everyone asking why he is always getting sick.

Children of your son's age group have a poor immunity and suffer from multiple episodes of infections.This is partly because as parents we start sending them to play schools quite early.In the play groups these kids get exposed to community acquired infections and these ping pong's in the entire school.Once they become big the rate of infection reduces due to mature immunity.
However it would be worthwhile to get his blood check done and get him thoroughly examined to rule out any other serious reasons for not keeping well.If they come normal then probably you will have to be patient to let him outgrow these infections.
