Hello
Thank you for placing your query with Health Care Magic
Urinary tract infections in females is commoner compared to boys and mostly it is related to hygiene. I am sure you must be taking good care of that, but more care may be required. Bacteria enters from outside through the urethra i.e the opening through which the baby passes urine. One or two episodes in females is acceptable. Especially if they don't recur once you lay more stress on hygiene. But if it repeats more than twice then she needs to undergo an ultrasound to rule out some congenital (present since birth) diseases which predisposes your child to developing recurrent urinary infections (e.g ureterocele, vesico-ureteric reflux etc) For this episode, consult a pediatric surgeon. Get a course of antibiotics and improve the hygiene. If it does not recur then relax. If it happens again, consult your pediatric surgeon and he/she will advise regarding ultrasound.
Hope that helps
God bless you
