Child Swallowed A Penny And Had No Bowel Movement So Should I Be Worried?
My child swallowed a penny last night and this morning acts fine. However, he has had the hiccups all morning and has not had a bowel movement yet (he usually has had at least one by now) and gagged once on some cheetos this morning. He is 2...should I be worried yet?
Thanks for your query.I am Dr.Sharon Baisil. From your question i understand that the child has nobreathing difficulty.See whether if he is having anyabdominal pain. You should go to the doctor and get an xray for your child.that can point out the exact position of the penny.it may have passed the oesophagus and reached the small intestines. The thing to watch out is intestinal obstruction. but in most cases the penny passes through the stools safely. So dont get worried.Butyou should take him to the doctor to get the xray of his abdomen. hope i have been helpful to you
