Child Unable To Urinate Standing, Passes Urine Crookedly. Advised That Hole Is Covered With Skin. Suggestions?
My 3 year old son can not pee standing up, even when I try to help him out and point his penis down he pees straight up and to the left. He has seen a specialist but I will be getting a second opinion because he doesn t want to take the time with him, all he said was he has skin covering the pee hole, it doesn t hurt so who cares pretty much. Do you know what could be causing this?
Hi
Thank you for your query
It is possible that your son has urethral meatus (opening from which the boy passes urine) at an abnormal site or of abnormal shape (hypospadias/ epispadias or meatal stenosis) Any of these conditions can cause the symptoms. May be it is not severe and so your specialist asked you to relax. But you can always get a second opinion from a pediatric surgeon. In case there is such a defect then he may require a minor surgical correction for the same. Also sometimes there is a minor torsion in the orientation of the body of the penis. All that can be surgically corrected. Feel free to consult a pediatric surgeon.
Hope that helps
God bless you
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Some time the prepuce of the penis becomes narrow producing a pin size hole which leads to difficulty in pee and called phimosis.
This will lead to recurrent urine infections and kidney problems during in long term if not treated.
Gradually because of scarring the hole closes and leads to obstruction of urine flow.
So consult your Pediatrician as early as possible to examine the hole, to assess any local infection and for appropriate referral for intervention if required.
Hope I have answered your query.
