Child With Butt Itching, Scratched Skin At Top Of Buttcrack. What Could Cause This?
Hello, my four year old daughter is complaining about her butt itching. When I looked at it it looks like she's scratched the skin off its at the top part of her buttcrack or lower back. I am not able to take her to the doctor because we don't have insurance at this time due to me changing jobs. Please help
There are several reasons for children to have itching in the buttock area. If her itching is prominent at night, then she may have worms and will need to be dewormed.
If she has a rash in her buttock which is causing her itching, then there is a likelihood of a streptococcal infection for which she will need an antibiotic.
Some children have lactose intolerance and have acidic stools which irritates the bottom and can cause burning and itching, for which she will need to try lactose free diet and see if that helps.
I would suggest she be taken to a walk in clinic where she can be seen by a physician and be treated based on her physical findings.
