Child With Lump In The Armpit. Ultrasound Showing Lymph Node. Could This Be Lymphoma?
My son has a soft lump under his armpit that has been there nearly 2 years. I brought him to the clinic and they first thought it was a lipoma but ultrasound shows it is a lymph node about 2 cm and recommend we see a surgeon. I am scared this may be lymphoma . How is a lipoma and lymph node distinguished on ultrasound and what are the chances this could be lymphoma?
Hi
All lymphnode swellings are due to lyphoma. Lymphnode enlargement may be due to infection in its draining area. Lipoma is a lobulated structure consisting of fatty tissue and lymphnode is a firm structure and can be easily distinguished on ultrasound.
There are less chances of lymphoma and nothing to worry.
Consult your Surgeon and they will do histopathological examination and confirm the cause of enlarged lymphnode
Hope i have answered your query.
