Child With Pain In The Shoulder. Mass Shown In The X-ray. MRI Recommended. Anything To Be Concerned?

Hi my son hurt his shoulder stretching its swollen especially the right shoulder blade. The orthopedist was clueless and first thought there was a mass on the X-ray and then said it was probably swelling or guild and recommended an MRI with contrast. The area was inflamed, tight and hit for the first 3 days before I went to the doctor

It can be a variety of possibilities
A subtle trauma which went unnoticed can lead to a hematoma which may give such a picture. It can simply be an abscess. Or it can truly be a mass. If its a mass, it may be a cause of concern and we need a MRI to see what exactly it is. If its a mass we will need to take a biopsy to characterize its nature and start treatment accordingly. But whatever it turns out to be i am sure it will be treated so there is no need to get anxious. Consult a pediatric surgeon for the same
