hi , my 9 yr old was in a bike accident and has 2nd degree road rash on his face and shoulder. he was seen in the er were his wounds were cleaned and bandaged. he was told to use neosporin and bandages. this was 4 days ago. it is healing well and he is also on antibiotics because of an deeper cut on his knee. i am concerned his face will scar. what can i do to prevent his facial wounds from scarring? thank you
If the mud and grit particles have been thoroughly washed with saline flushes immediately following trauma,it's unlikely to scar. Face has very rich blood supply, significant scarring or infection is unusual. ScarringI is mainly due to entrapment of dust and grit. Continue applying ointment as advised
