hello my 7 year old girl complains with her stomach hurting around her belly button often and she never has an appetite , and she told me when she has a BM that it is hard and she has trouble getting it out, and for as long as I can remember when she goes to the bathroom she stays in there a very long time and she does this like 3 times a day. Today she is running a fever of 102.7 I gave her something for it and fever is gone but still hurting with her stomach. She had the stomach bug about 2 1/2 weeks ago. So I don t know what could be wrong. I m taking her to the doctor but I just want to know what you think....I ve been on here looking around becuase she is sick alot lately and I seen something about appendicitis and now I m worried about that becuease she has alot of the signs. please help

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! How is her dietary habits ? Is she being provided frequently with food from outside like any junk food ? Please avoid it if it is so. Please encourage her to take more of roughage and a lot of liquids which may help in relieving her constipation. One tea spoonful of honey daily may also act as a natural laxative for her.
Regarding the pain in the abdomen, your treating doctor after examining and excluding any surgical cause like appendicitis, may like to deworm her initially. The fever which she has developed may or may not be related to the pain abdomen. The doctor who will be seeing her will be able to decide on further course of action.
