Child's Bottom Lip Pulls To Left Side When Talking. Your Thoughts?
MY son s bottom lip has recently started pulling to the left side when he talks. He is not taking any medication and has no history of medical conditions. When his lips are closed they are straight in line and he has no other noticeable changes in his face. He has recently failed a school hearing test . What are your thoughts?

It could be due to 7th cranial nerve / facial nerve (branch) paresis / paralysis involving the nerve fibres supplying the muscles of face in lower face of right side. The unopposed action of muscles in left is causing the deviation.
The facial nerve is in close connection with middle ear. As your child also has hearing loss, Otitis media (Middle ear infection) could be a cause for such problem which can also affect facial nerve fibres supplying the muscles.
The 7th and 8th cranial nerves (facial and auditory nerves) passes together in bony canal. A crush / compression/ fracture in the area can also cause similar symptoms.
So, get your child examined by doctor and start necessary treatment.

Hearing loss put together with deviation of angle of mouth, suggests cranial nerve involvement.
He has to be examined carefully and investigated further.
Was there any injury/ ear infection/ blebs in his ear or face?
Please have him examined by a Pediatrician.
