Chronic Dry Cough, Stuffed Nose, Twitching Of Eye And Brownish Discoloration Of Phlegm. Serious?

I started out 3 days ago with a Cronic dry cough . It has progressed to coughing up yellow phlegm and totally stuffed nose . When I woke up this morning the first thing I coughed up was brownish yellow and had some blood in it immediately after all my phlegm is just yellow. My chest hurts from the continuous coughing every 20 mins or so my neck is sore and my left top eyelid is twitching as well

Hello,

The symptoms of dry cough, progressing to yellow phlegm over three days, with some brown/yellow color phlegm, need to be considered as potentially serious. But there is no need to panic. Hope you are not finding it hard to breathe and there is no fever.

Your symptoms are usually seen in people who develop infection of the lung substance (parenchyma). No specific explanation can be offered for twitching of your left upper eyelid.

Please see your nearest physician. He will suggest appropriate blood and phlegm (sputum) tests for you to identify the infecting microbe. He/she will also start the most suitable treatment, including antibiotics, for you.

Hope your cough and chest pain get relieved with treatment at the earliest. Thanks a lot for using healthcaremagic.com
