Cold, Stuffy Nose, Strange Sensation In Throat, Pressure In Forehead, Occasional Headaches. Recommendations?

I am a 19 year old male, roughly 6'1 and 145 pounds.

I got a cold maybe a month and a half ago and ever since then I have had a stuffy nose, and weird feeling in my throat (almost tight) also some pressure in my forehead which occasionally lead to headaches. I wanted to know what might be causing these? I thought it was a sinus infection but my univ. campus doctor said it was probably not because I have not had any brown discharge from my nose. I have been doing some research and I am now concerned that it could be nasal polyps but I am not sure-- need help finding out what is going on.

Hi,

You have had some symptoms related to your nose only from last one and half month. You have also visited a campus doctor who has given you a clean chit. The problem with trying to research on your own is that you will try connecting dots with symptoms for many diseases where the symptoms overlap. I am not just ruling out your research; what I am trying to say is that it is not unusual for nasal polyps to present with stuffy nose and headaches. I can give you some understanding on polyps so that you know what they are. There are two types of nasal polyps - antrochoanal polyp usually associated with long standing sinusitis and ethmoidal polyps usually associated with symptoms of allergy such as sneezing, prolonged nasal discharge etc. If you have not got any prolonged symptoms of sinusitis, have not had allergic symptoms and your doctor has not picked up any polyp during your recent visit the chances of polyps are slim. If you are still worried, visit your doctor for a thorough clinical, endoscopic and radiology examination.

Sreenivasan
