Coming Out Of Piece Covering Tooth Socket, Mild Pain. History Of Tooth Extraction 3 Days Back. Healing Tissue Or Dead Gum Skin?

I'm really worried.. I just finished rinsing my mouth out with warm salt water.. and .. I'm not sure if it was tissue healing or dead gum skin but when I checked in the mirror.. the piece covering my socket is now gone BUT it is NOT BLEEDING thank god! (this has been there 3 and a half days now) and I can see all the way down to the jaw bone. I didn't have stitches put in as it was an easy pull. It hurts a bit, and it's only been 3 and a half days since it was extracted.

Welcome in HCM forum. I wrote in a previous discussion in a same type of problem. When a tooth is extracted and no suture is given, at first a blood clod forms in the socket, which is covered by migration of epithelium from margins of the socket. This process is completed generally in 48/72 hours after extraction. and the socket starts healing from the bottom. As there is some amount of shrinkage during the blood clot, the epithelial covering does not seems to be flat with gum line, rather it looks like a cavity into the socket. Remember the clot that formed and covered by epithelium is firm enough to be dislodged by simple mouth washing if not it is got infected. So after three and half days what came out during your mouth wash is probably a food particle. If any part of the healing tissue is dislodged or infected, certainly there will be bleeding, and of course you will feel pain. The white object you are seeing as a bone , again it is probably some food particle. The jaw bone is seen inside a extracted socket in a condition called 'dry socket', which is a extremely painful condition and I hope you are not suffering from dry socket. When you have no pain and no bleeding, be sure your socket is healing. Your mild pain is normal after 3 days of extraction. Take Paracetamol 650 mg if required. You will be fine soon. Good luck.

Hi,
According to your query, your socket seems to be fine. Your socket is not bleeding means that your clot is firm now and socket is healing. On rinsing with warm saline water or mouthwash, food debris usually comes out which might has been accumulated in and around the socket so don't worry and continue rinsing for next 3 days. Mild pain will go off in some days. Take enzoheal-D for 2 days, for enhanced healing and pain relief.
Take care

hi...
thanks for the query...
please dont be bothered about the appearance of your socket... as long as you are not experiencing any uncontrolable pain or bleeding, everything is fine...
mild pain is okay... just take medication prescribed by your dentist properly... and do warm saline rinses...
take care...

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

To evaluate the nature of healing socket, direct clinical examination is necessary.

I would advice you to get dressing of socket with ZOE.

Take complete course of amoxycillin as well as analgesics.

Maintain oral hygiene well.

Rinse your mouth after every meals.

Take care.
