Complaining About Heel, Feet Pain. Planter Facitis? How To Cure? Doing Many Hours Dance Rehersals
Yes...My nine year old daughter has been complaining of heal/arch/foot pain. My first thought is planters faciatis (sp?) I know this pain all too well as what she's described sounds exactly what I've had a couple of years ago. My concern is that she is so young and how best to heal etc. She is on a dance competition team and has started her fall schedule of many hours per week of dancing, which is why this issue does not surprise me.
There are numerous causes for pain in the heel of foot. A detailed clinical examination and appropriate investigations are needed to establish a proper diagnosis.
The treatment of plantar fascitis (if it is confirmed) is as follows -
* Relative rest and simple massage of the foot along with stretching exercises * Judicious use of analgesic antiinflammatory medicines * Night splints may be useful to keep the foot in plantigrade position * Use of MCR (micronised rubber) or silicon heels in the foot wear * Maintaining appropriate body weight so as to reduce the load bearing on the heels * At time a single injection of corticosteroid in to the area of maximum pain will provide good pain relief.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
