Continuous Burping In Throat. Started After Stopping Antidepressants. Suggested Endoscopy. Advice?
I have been having continuous burping in my throat (almost a month now). It only goes away when I am lying down. Around the same time that this started, I went off my anti-depressants. My gastroenteologist wants me to have an endoscopy..but he feels that the burping is most likely anxiety that was caused by going off cymbalta and abilify. What do you think? If it is anxiety then why does the burping all day long but not when I am horizontal? And should I even bother getting the endoscopy?
Hi, The cause of continuous burping could be change of menu recently, like cooking oil, vegetables, meat, etc, or change in the spices you are using. Lastly psychological due to stoping the drugs. I to my patient with such symptoms prescrbe omeprazole, domperidone, for 7 days. If repeated have gastroscopy to exclude any gastric cause. Thank you.
