Steam inhalation at home may add benefit.
Be guided by your doctor regarding antibiotics etc.
Small blood in sputum can be normal in severe congestion. But may be serious if there is larger/ frequent bleed/ bronchiectasis or cancer etc.
Take care and please keep me informed of your progress.
Good Luck!
I hope to have answered your query satisfactorily.
Thank you!

Dear friend, welcome to HCM! With a history of smoking, chills, sputum with blood, I suspect a lung pathology like infection, bronchiectasis, bronchitis etc. You should get a CBC, Xray chest done and see your physician to look for these and rule out serious condition. If you are wheezing and breathless, get an ABG (arterial Blood Gas ) analysis also. Steam inhalation at home may add benefit. Be guided by your doctor regarding antibiotics etc. Small blood in sputum can be normal in severe congestion.
