Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am a 23 year old female. Two years ago, I suffered from menstruation issues and a local GP suggested I might have PCOS. I have struggled with my weight in the past, however I now have it under control. However I have not had a period since last August.
Hello there, Yes , PCOS is known to cause menstrual disturbances including missed periods and also excessive bleeding during periods. If you have not had sex in the last 8 months then PCOS being a diagnosis is very likely. If you have your weight under control that is a good sign. Please visit your OB-GYN who will get your FSH, Estrogen and Cortisol levels evaluated. After your reports are in place you may be put on a short course of N-acetyl Cysteine or Metformin . They are very effective in controlling PCOS and should see your periods resume soon.
Hope this helps, Please feel free to address any further queries to me. i will gladly answer them,
