Could Xanax Cause Dizziness And Sleeplessness?

I took 0.25 mg of Xanax last night (10pm) for the 1st time after telling my doctor of my difiiculty dealing with anxiety. I woke up really groggy and dizzy and had to go back to bed. I stayed there until 3pm. I would open my eyes and would get very dizzy and felt like I would be sick. Similar to the feeling my Dad has with his Meniere s. I am 58, and take no other med s. I am leary of taking it again. Could I be hyper sensitive to the med?

Hello

Xanax at 0.25 mg dose usually don't cause significant sedation or dizziness. Some times in some susceptible individuals it can cause drowsiness and sedation. It is a sedative drug in high doses. When individuals start taking the drug they feel heaviness and dizziness in next morning like hangover. These symptoms usually go away in some days. As the drug is having abuse potential I would advise you to take the drug on SOS basis under proper prescription only.
