Could Back Pain And High BP During Pregnancy Be Due To Climbing Of Steps?
Im 4 1/2 months pregnant and I have pretty bad lower back pain and my doctor told me I have slightly high blood pressure. I have to walk up and down 2 flights of stairs a day for work and Im curious if my back pain and high blood pressure is reason to work from home?
Back pain in pregnancy is a common symptom. It is thought to occur due to laxity of ligaments in the back due to the effect of hormones of pregnancy. Using the stairs frequently may increase the pain. To reduce the pain avoid high-heels, avoid lifting heavy objects including small children. The very fact you have mentioned that you have the option of working from home I presume you are a soft ware engineer. You should maintain correct posture while working with computers.
It is prudent to work from home now and see if back pain reduces. If it does not reduce you will need mild analgesics like paracetamol and physiotherapy.
What is your age? Was your blood pressure normal before pregnancy? Increased blood pressure at this period of pregnancy is unlikely to be due to pregnancy. You need to consult physician also. Atleast you need to do some blood and urine tests. Don't take it lightly. Its cause should be found and treated.
If you have any further queries do consult me. I will be happy to answer.
