Could Cold And Fever Affect Platelet Count In Blood?
Yes good morning I have low blood Platelet count I got a check up done 2 week's ago and every thing came out really clean according to the doctor except my blood count it was low so he had me do a second test and, this came out better still low but better I asked if the fact that I was really sick from the end of October till the start of January it was really bad cold cough fever I don't know what I had but he was not sure if this affected my blood count could this affected my blood please help

Regarding your query.... low platelet count may be due to infections like viral or bacterial which is most likely in your case....with or without decreased other blood cells.... There are other causes of reduced platelets...like Immune thrombocytopenia, due to drugs ilke NSAIDS (pain killers), hemolytic anemia, and many others... The underlying cause should be sought ....if platelet count decreased significantly...and treat the cause...
