Could Diarrhea, Bloating, Pain In Abdomen With Burping Mean Gallbladder Attack?

Hi I am a nurse and believe that my son is having a Gallbladder attack. yesterday he c/o Diarreah which lasted a couple of hours, some bloating, and some queezyness, today no Diarreah, but he is having some upper right quadrant abdominal pain. he is also having a lot of burping which he says taste like rotten eggs.. Please give me your opinion on this matter. I have Advised him to go to the ER . My NAME IS BRENDA. Thank you

Hi,

I noted the history about your son who had diarrhea followed by right upper quadrant pain, egg smelling burps, bloating and you being a Nurse is wants to know whether this is gall bladder or something else.Ideally gall bladder does not present like the way you have explained.

This looks to be Gastroenteritis and I would advise you the following:

Get the blood, stool and urine report. Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen will help to confirm or rule out the gall problems or otherwise. X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon helps further to get the correct diagnosis. Get started with an antibiotic if indicated so. Probiotics and symptomatic treatment as per the presenting symptoms and signs.
