Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Digestive Disorders And Pancreatitis Be Due To Kerosene Intake?
When I was a child, my mother (who was mentally ill) used to make me take "doses" of kerosene (1 spoonful). I am now in my 50, but over the years starting in my 20s, I have had digestive disorders, gallstones, colon polyps, and pancreatitis. Could the kerosene have been the cause? None of these illnesses run in my family.
As per our clinical experience with kerosene exposure patients on long term basis, there can be stomach ulcers or respiratory distress; but gall stones, colon polyps and pancreatitis are not consequences of the same.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
