Could Extra Dosage Of Metoprolol Be The Cause For Elevated BPM?

I had a sleep apnea moment two nights ago which put my heart out of rhythm. I take 50MG of metoprolol and had this happen once before and my doc said to increase the dosage to 3 pills which I did for a few days and it seemed to get better, but it feels like my chest is getting squeezed. Not unbearable, but noticeable. Is this a result of my heart having the increased beats or is this something I should be worried about?
