Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Fatty Liver And Enzymes Being 177 And 130 Indicate Cancer?
I have an AST of 105 and an ALT of 99. I am a breast cancer survivor (3 years now) and have been on Tamoxifen for the last 3 years. My enzymes a few weeks ago were 177 and 130 respectively. I have stopped taking the Tamoxifen for the last 3 weeks per my oncologist. He now wants to do a CT to make sure my fatty liver (seen on previous CTs) has not developed into cancer. Please advise.
I agree with your doctor on the indication for performing a CT scan in order to exclude possible cancer metastasis. You should know that increased liver enzymes are not indicative of cancer, as they raise also during fatty liver or alcohol intake or any drugs intake (painkillers). Anyway, considering your past medical history, this is the right step to follow.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
