Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had diverticulitis about 5 weeks ago, finished meds and started feeling better. I got a stomach virus about 4 days ago, cramps, thin loose stools, mucus and now I have some bright red blood in the mucus and when I wipe. Could hemmoroids develop from all the loose stools.
Blood with mucous may be due to bacillary or amoebic dysentery caused by shigella or salmonella or amoeba et cetera.
Also, possibility of second episode of colitis, hemorrhoids or fissure or fistulas may present with more blood than mucous. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.
Get stool examination is done and consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
