Could Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy Cause Weight Gain And Fatigue?

My husband, who is not fat anywhere else, has a basket ball belly. He is always tired and has no enthusiasm for anything. We've tried anti-depressants and testosterone tx-no change. He was also recently dx with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy of the feet (not diabetic-no vascular issues). Could these symptoms be related? Metabolic? Hormonal? Thyroid? Pituatary? He has been told to lose 50 lbs -he's lost about 15 so far. He's 6'1'' and weighted about 250ish. Thank you
