Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

I read your query and do understand your concern regarding feeling drained of energy. lack of energy can be manifestation of multiple disorders including depression, anemia, nutritional deficiencies.

To directly answer your query, I would say lack of energy and feeling drained is one of the cardinal symptoms of depression and a manifestation of stress. However, for a diagnosis of depression, there must be other symptoms like low mood, sleep and appetite disturbances, etc. I would suggest you seek a formal consultation with a physician so as to rule out any medical disorder like mentioned above. If required, a psychiatric consultation can then be sought.

It would also help if you give up smoking as that only leads to health hazards without any benefit. It good that you exercise and you should continue doing that.

Hope i was able to answer your query. Best wishes.
