Could Mood Swings Be Due To Increased Dosage Of Lamotrigine?
My daughter just upped her dosage of limotrigine from 50 to 75 mg 4 days ago. She was on 25 mg for 2 weeks, 50 for 1week and now 75. Saw a few ok days on 50. She s on it for for resistant depression having previously been treated w effexor, cellexad, lexapro, prozac wellbutrin. Her mood is really down. Could this be a result of the dosage increase?
Hello, Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
If your daughter is taking Lamotrigine to increase her good mood, and she now has low mood means that maybe she needs to increase the dosage more. Though, you should not manipulate yourself with her dosage because it is a very complicated medicine, so only her doctor should approve dose changes. On the other side the medicine does not work immediately but it needs some time to start full action. So basically for now I would recommend to keep close contact with your daughter's doctor and support her by staying by her side.
Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns
