Could Night Mares Along With Sweating Be Due To Xanax?
Hi I am talking Xanax to help me with insomnia. I recently was increased from .5 mg to 2 mg at night to help me sleep. I just had a horribly violent dream and woke up in a cold sweat. I usually never dream. Could this be caused by the xanax??? Thanks for your help!!! Mal
Xanax causes side effects like difficulty in balance or coordination, drowsiness, problems of concentration and memory, vivid dreams, low blood pressure. So yes, there is a fair probability of you having a night mare because of increase in dose of Xanax. I suggest to increase the dose only up to 0.5mg for 1 week. Then you can increase to 1.5 mg for another 2 weeks. By the above procedure, you can avoid vivid dreams and have a good sleep.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
