Could Pulled Muscle In Shoulder Cause Migraines?

Hi, I am 44 years old and a couple of days ago I think that I pulled a muscle in my shoulder. This was extremely painful but today at about lunch time I got this dull unbearable headache, I thought that it was a migraine? Could this be right or does it have anything to do with my shoulder? As I was driving earlier I saw little black dots but they went away. I didn t feel sick but the pain kind of made me feel sick. I ate normally and haven t been sick yet. Is there any chance you could help me?

Hello
Migraine headache has a distinct pathophysiology .It is considered as neurovascular headache. Pulled muscle of shoulder does not cause migraine headache. However pain, stress or sleep disturbances may precipitate the migraine headache. Black dots before headache may suggest, migraine with aura. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen may be taken for acute attack .we prescribe Triptans for acute attack of migraine headache. If frequency of headache is more than 2 in a month then we advise prophylaxis treatment and detail neurological examination and relevant investigation to rule out any other pathology of headache.
Best wishes
