Could Severe Burning Pain In Abdomen Be Due To Scars On The Intestine?

can potato chips cut you as they pass through your digestive system? my mother has a lot of issues with here digestive system. for the past two days she has been experiancing a lot of burning pain in her stomach and lower back. she thinks she ate some stale sweet potato chips and that maybe she was cut. is this even possible? or is it more likely her ibs and stress coupled with her gerd thats causing the pain?

Hi.

Chips are a common and strong trigger factor for episodes of IBS and that coupled with stress could quite possibly be the cause for your mothers symptoms. She may have been comfortable with them earlier, but it is best to avoid them. and no, the chips cannot do that as they have been digested and softened up well enough before they can do that.

Best wishes.
