Could Severe Head Throbbing And Blurred Vision Be Symptoms Of Concussion?

Last night, I was walking with some friends on the side walk and tripped over an uneven pavement causing me to fall hard to the ground. I scraped by left knee, left shoulder and left side of my face and hit the pavement with my head. When I got up, I was a little dizzy and head was throbbing and hurting. It is a little difficult to raise my shoulder I try to raise it above my head. When I got home, my husband did clean the wound with peroxide; added ointment and covered it up with gauze. My left shoulder was scraped and tore off some skin causing some oozing which is the cause of changing the gauze. I woke up this morning with my head still hurting. I did have blurred vision, but can see normally now. I have been taking ibuprofen every 4 hours. Could I have a slight concussion?

Hi,

Unfortunately that sounds like more than just a mild concussion. Of course it can be a concussion, but a rather severe one. However, to be on the very safe side you would have to have an MRI or CT scan to see if there are structural damages that are causing your symptoms. I truly hope that this is not the case and in the end it’s your decision if you want to wait a little more or if you prefer to get a thorough check-up in an emergency room right away.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
