Could Severe Pain Below The Ear Of A Child After Bad Fall Be Broken Jaw?
MY GRANDSON WHO IS 6 YRS. OLD FELL OFF THE MONKEY BARS AND LANDED ON HIS SIDE WHICH ALSO ONE SIDE OF HIS FACE TRYING TO CATCH HIMSELF. RIGHT BELOW HIS EAR IS VERY RED BUT HE IS TALKING ALRIGHT AND WALKING ALRIGHT . HE SAID IT REALLY HURTS BAD. CAN YOU BREAK YOUR JAW BONE OR IF SO-COULD HE EVEN TALK?? I THINK HES ALRIGHT , HES JUST GONNA BE SORE!
Hello, Your grandson definitely has an abrasion(scratch) with underlying soft tissue injury below the ear. Usually a broken bone is marked by intense pain and some swelling over it. Unless the jaw joint is involved, your grandson will still be able to talk. If his pain is not relieved by his regular dose of paracetamol, please see an orthopedician .An X ray will reveal any bony injury Regards Dr.Sudharsana.S
