Could Severe Pain In Chest Be Due To Fractured Ribcage?

hi six days ago i feel over on a wet floor, i was holding an umbrella at the time with a curved handle , it bashed me in the center of my breast, it was very painful, a year prior to this i had had a biopsy and they had left a marker in there, but i had all clear results, though did suffer chest pain . its hard to lye down, lean forward. 36 hours after hurting my self i developed sore throat, now have flue like symptoms, finding it still hard to breath and cant sleep longer than two hours as pain wakes me up. i haven t been doctors and i have worked every day since i feel over. i figured if i have bruised or cracked a rid there really is not any thing i can do about it but wait. its bad luck that i got a cold but it just makes things more painful.

Hello,

The likely cause of long standing pain after trauma is a fracture of the rib. You should get a chest X-ray done to diagnose it. Treatment is simple with few analgesics and rest to the body.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
