Could Sharp Pain In Heel While Walking Indicate Plantar Fasciitis?
I think I have plantar fasciitis there is a sharp pain in my heel and it hurts to walk. It started in my left foot and then moved to the right foot. Fortunately they are not both hurting at the same time. Sometimes walking in shoes with a slight heel helps but not today. What can I do to help this thing? I am a teacher and have some time now to take care of anything I might need to do but come the end of Aug. I am up on my feet again. Any suggestion
Hello and welcome to healthcare magic community . Thank you very much for your query . Actually , planter fasciitis 's primary symptom is stabbing pain near heel while standing , running and walking etc . It commonly happens to athletes , factory workers and even teachers because these people are engaged in activities ending up pressure on foot arches resulting in wear and tear and resultant pain . But no need to worry , there are things like using arch supports ( orthotics) cushions in your shoes to give support to feet . Calf and feet splints can be applied to stretch them and massage on the planter side of foot with olive oil to bring the arch muscles in a position to adopt to wear and tear . use warm water to wash your feet and take periodic rests while working and waking and avoid excessive standing . I will not suggest to much medications because they have side effects , however you can sometime use Naproxen if have too much pain . Do see your primary to investigate it further when you come back . Hope I have answered your question . please feel free to ask any follow up questions if needed . Good luck .
