Could Sonogram Showing Inconclusive For Endometrial Polyp Be Malignant?

I am 40 years old and, for the last 3 months, have pain on the lower left side of my stomach around the time of ovulation This pain lasts 1 or 2 days. I went to a doctor, had sonogram and it was inconclusive for an endometrial polyp. I am having an MRI next week. I have no pain in-between periods Could this be malignant?

Hi,

An inconclusive sonogram for an endometrial polyp does not necessarily mean that it is malignant. Endometrial polyps are typically benign growths that occur on the inner lining of the uterus and can cause pain or abnormal bleeding. However, they can be cancerous, but this is rare.

An MRI is a more detailed imaging test that can help identify any abnormalities in the uterus or surrounding tissues, including any potential malignancies. It is important to follow up with your doctor to discuss the results of the MRI and any recommended treatment options.

In addition, if you experience persistent or worsening pain, it is important to seek medical attention promptly. Pain on the lower left side of the stomach during ovulation could potentially be due to other conditions such as ovarian cysts or endometriosis, which can also require medical evaluation and treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
