Could Sore Throat Along With High Fever Be Due To Bacterial Infection?

My daughter became ill yesterday with a severe sore throat and high temperature. I have given her Ibuprofen, as directed since yesterday. Highest temp this am, 104.1 po and now at 103.8. I am performing cooling measures now. Her last dose of ibuprofen was at 1430.
I am a nurse and feel this is viral, so trying to manage her at home. Is there any chance this could be bacterial? I assessed her throat, just thinking maybe strep throat, but no indication.
Should I just continue with present plan?
