Could Stopping Intake Of Femilon Cause Reucrrance Of Ovarian Cyst?

Sir I underwent a surgery for ovarian cyst in March this year. After that the doctor has advised me to take femilon. I dont want a baby for another year. I want to stop taking the pill because it is causing weight gain but am afraid if i do so the cyst may recur. Please advise me what should I do?

Hello,

Birth control pills helps reduce the size of the cyst and regularize menstrual cycles. However, it's discontinuation does not necessarily mean that the cyst would recur. But your chances of having a recurrent cyst will increase. You can discontinue the pills if you are trying to conceive and follow up regularly with ObGyn to see if cysts are recurring.
