Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My father w;as bitten by a cat. We took him to the hospital within a day and he was hospitalized and given antibiotics through intervenes for 3-1/2 days. He is home now and still on two antibiotics. He has had two blood cultures done and they cannot seem to identify the infection. His legs are severely blown up in size which is our concern. They had gone down while in the hospital but now are worse. He does have other complications such as COPD, Heart Disease. Should his legs be as swollen or do you believe the bacteria has traveled to the tendons and should be drained out?

Could Swelling In The Legs Be Caused By Bacteria?
Hello, He should definitely go to the hospital for further examinations and possibly a change in treatment strategy. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
