Could Swollen Lymph Glands And Tonsils Be Due To Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

I have swollen glands and tonsils and severe toothache from a back tooth that is partly covered by my gum. I thought maybe my gum was swollen because of my tonsils but now I m thinking maybe everything is swollen because of this wisdom tooth that is breaking through. I have also been feverish. And I have a rash on my stomach and back. Verdict anyone?

Brief answer: PERICORONITIS.

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain the symptoms which you have explained are all due to wisdom tooth.
The swollen gum is not due to tonsils but it is due to infection and inflammation of the gum flap which is covering your wisdom tooth partially and it occurs due to food debris accumulation between your wisdom tooth and the gum flap leading to bacterial infection in that area causing pain, swelling, pus discharge from below the flap on applying pressure ,lymph node enlargement, throat pain, inflammation in tonsils and at times fever and fatigue.

Rashes are not seen in case of pericoronitis and it can be due to either some infection or allergy.

I would suggest you to see a dentist and get evaluated for the exact cause of the symptoms.

It will most probably be due to wisdom tooth and the dentist will take an IOPAR (x ray) to check whether it should be retained or needs extraction.

You will be given antibiotics and pain killers to relieve pain and reduce infection and inflammation.

Try to keep the area clean.

Gargle with warm saline.

Use antimicrobial mouthwash.
