Could The Chest Pain And Nausea Indicate The Symptoms Of Congestive Heart Failure?
My mother is 94…a privilege to say the least. Yesterday she developed a very severe chest pain and was feeling very nausea. She was taken to the hospital and they felt she was having a heart attack….however here e.k.g. showed not the case….. Is it possible that she is having congestive heart failure?
Hi, Chest pain and nausea in a eldery strongly suggest the possiblity of heart attack. However it has been ruled out. Probably it could be secondary to gastritis and would reduce with Tab. Rantac or Tab. Omez. Congestive heart failure does not occur acutely unless there is a pre-existing problem related to heart. History of hypertension commonly is associated with congestive heart failure. signs in left heart failure - swelling of lower limbs, later stages - abdominal swelling signs in right heart failure - fluid collection in lungs - leading to difficulty in breathing.
However I strongly advise you to follow up for these symptoms and as you have done, never ignore chest pain with nausea. If it continues to pain despite treatment, advise biochemical studies also.
Hope I have answered your query. Happy to help, if you have any further queries.
