Could The Increase In Blood Sugar Levels Be Due To Bee Stung?
I m hypersensitive to bee stings (not anaphylaxis) and have a prescription for prednisone to combat the symptoms when stung. I am now diabetic and noticed an unexplained spike in blood sugar after being stung this last time. Is it likely the bee sting, the prednisone, or totally unrelated?
Both the bee sting and the steroid could cause the increase in blood sugars.
As part of the inflammatory response to any trauma, infection or allergy, it is possible for increased blood sugars to occur. This would have occurred with bee sting.
Steroids also can cause an increase in blood sugar readings.
I hope this helps
