Could The Numbness In Toe Be Due To A Compression Fracture?
I got a compression fracture of the L1 vertebrae about 7 months ago. For the past 3 or 4 weeks, I have numbness in my left big toe, the toe next to it, and the top of my left foot.Could the numbness be caused by compression fracture this long after the injury occurred? If so, is this something that I should be concerned about, or is it something that will go away with time?
Numbness in the big toe is not generally related to the L1 area.
It is related more often to the L5 area.
However, in rare cases, the L1 compression fracture could be worsening and hitting the end of the spinal cord (conus) which could theoretically cause numbness in the toe.
Regardless, I would ask your doctor for a MRI of the lumbar spine.
