Could The Pain Near The Heart Be Due To Discontinuation Of TB Treatment?

Hi,a may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... am a tb patient. had medicines only for 5 days that to interrupted noe its been 2 months not taking any medicines so is my tb has evolved to " MDR or XDR " FORMS . and heard that this also effects heart and brain cause am having massive pain near my heart area but it feels like you have the pain during heart attack. so whats wrong?

Hello,

Yes, you are right. If you don't take proper treatment for tuberculosis, it can lead to drug resistance (MDR - Multidrug resistance or XDR - Total drug resistance). So you should definitely restart your anti-tuberculosis drugs, and take them for at least six to eight months.

For your chest pain, it is better to first rule out heart diseases by doing ECG and 2d echo. If both these are normal, then no need to worry about heart diseases. You just finish your tuberculosis treatment, and your chest pain will also subside.
