Could The Reason For Sore Throat Be Anything Other Than GERD And On Lansoprazola Medication Having Blood And Thyroid Results Normal?
hi, doctor i have had a sore throat for 3 weeks now my doctor says its GERD. I am taking Lansoprazola 30mg and it has helped a bit but i just want to get my throat better. I have changed my diet. could my sore throat be something else and not GERD. I have had a blood test for my thyroid and the results are normal. can you suggest anything.
GERD is a very common and silent disease and three weeks is too less a time for you to be thinking alternative diagnosis or treatment. A sudden lifestyle change and some medications may not cure you overnight!! The treatment is long term and the changes should be life long though not that strict.
You may however add an antihistamine like levocetrizine and see if that helps
In any case wait for a couple of more weeks and if you do not feel better then you must take an upper GI endoscopy and get back to me or any ENT with the reports
The thyroid tests have no direct bearing on your problem
Hope this helps
