Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could The Use Of Amoxicillian Be Causing The Joint Pain To Worsen?
My 14 year old son has Crohns disease. After resection 1 1/2 years ago, he is doing very well. He is having joint pain in his ankles, knees and wrists. This has become worse since starting a dose of Amoxicillian 2 days ago for Strep. Could this be causing the joint pain to worsen?
No, it is not possible that the antibiotic causes joint pain. In cases that the patient is intolerant to the specific antibiotic, he doesn't have pain but other allergic reactions such as rash and itching or edemas etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
