Hello,
Since you have a history of spondylolistheasis and degeneration of several discs; you are experiencing symptoms of neuropathy, compression of the nerves is causing you tingling, pain & numbness. You also have a history of being a heavy drinker, alcohol decreases absorption of nutrients like vitamin B12, proteins, etc causing
nutritional deficiency that triggers
alcoholic neuropathy. Get clinically examined by a GP /
neurologist, get NCV test, nerve biopsy, performance tests, blood tests and imaging tests done to assess the degree of neuropathy that has developed.
It is treated with
physical therapy, get connected to a physiotherapist, take vitamin supplements (folate, thiamine, niacin, and vitamins B6, B12, and E). Wear special stockings for support, wear comfortable stabilizing footwear. Take pain relieving medicines (NSAIDS or Ibuprofen), one SOS when required. Take healthy balanced home made food, cut on alcohol intake, connect with detox centers, take
multivitamin supplements. Your treating doctor may treat you with injection for a faster response to treatment. Maintain healthy BMI and do regular walking.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
