Could Watery Stools With Blood Clots Have Been Caused By Lansoprazole?
I was given Lansoprazole for silent reflux. I was constipated at first. Then my stools turned green. I was told to double up my dose to 2 times 30mg. I developed black tarry stools. I had a stool test which showed nothing. After giving the Lansoprazole a break I tried 2 times 15mg . One in the morning one in the evening . My stools turned watery with blood clots. I have come off the ppi now as it is worrying me . I am due a colonoscopy. Blood tests show a mild infection. I am concerned that this could be C difficule. I had been taking the Lansoprazole since February, About 3 and a half months.
It is possible to be side effects of Lansoprazole. This drug may increase your risk of severe diarrhea. This may be caused by an infection in your intestine due to Clostridium Difficile. This medication is better to be used as short period as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
