Could Working Out At Gym Prior To FBS Test Cause The Results To Elevate Considering Having High Cholesterol Levels?
I just received my fasting glucose test results. The results indicate I am pre-diabetic (6.4% HG). I exercise 5-6 days a week for approximately 1.5 hrs per session. I run, do strength training, and yoga. About 1.5 hour before the testing, I ran on the treadwell at very fast rate and did strength training with dumbbells. Could this activity have caused my glucose levels to elevate? My total cholestrol is 181 mg/dL, HDL is 53 mg/dL and LDL is 114 mg/dL. My weight is 155 Lbs. Age: 60.
This is an age related phenomenon. As the age advances the number of Beta cells of pancreas which secrete insulin decreases. So lack of insulin causes elevation of the blood sugar and not your exercises. I would advise my patients to continue the exercises because it helps in controlling and blood sugar and slow the progression of overt diabetes. Follow diet with low carbohydrate and fat and the advice of your doctor.
